This antique carousel horse has been in Brandon’

This antique carousel horse has been in Brandon’s family since he was a baby, and now it lives on with us. It was always my favorite thing in my mother-in-law’s house and I’m thrilled to pieces that we get to have it here. 🤍
(See, almost a week after sharing to Stories and I still haven’t had time and daylight to take a better photo. Rumpled cushions and unstyled life through my phone’s camera it is, friends.)

I didn’t realize guitars (especially acoustics)

I didn’t realize guitars (especially acoustics) need to be kept at 40-50% humidity. So now I have these little humidifiers: one for the guitar and one for the ukulele. I picked these because I thought the gauge was cute ☺️ but I did get a tip from someone that you can just put a damp sponge in a plastic baggie with holes in it and save yourself $15.

I’ve decided to get good at guitar. That’s it. That’s how it works. Really, it comes down to me deciding to practice with some regularity because I’m tired of thinking and saying “oh it would be so nice if I could play well.” I can do something about that!

Here we go 2023! I’ve got a May deadline to get our house “finished” (priority: kitchen and front railing). That might be a scramble but everything else feels good. Kids are great and so are me and Bran. I’m feeling nicely settled in the new job and liking it very much. Also feeling nicely settled in to this stage of life! Having fun with style, feeling inspired and planning projects around the house, learning instruments as I please, reading, making art, and continuing my streak up to now four years of daily French lessons. Bonne année!

I really wanted to overcomplicate this. Dry erase markers? (Would those stay on? Or stay on too well?) Special clips marketed for a picture-perfect pantry? Maybe something magnetic, or that would clip on? And then I remembered that I already had these round tags. They’re cute! They work! I already had them on hand and they therefore give me no excuse to stop cleaning so that I could make a special little trip to buy special little labels! (That last part’s both a plus and a minus.)
